Off-duty cops supported Underwood’s story

The Lake Delton police records of the sexual assault investigation involving Green Bay Packers cornerback Brandon Underwood show Milwaukee police officers corroborated the NFL player’s story along with the other Packers involved in the June 2010 incident.

Last month, the two Milwaukee women who made the accusations against Underwood, Kesha M. Cureton and Tynecha L. Lipsco were charged with misdemeanor prostitution.

Also in March, Underwood entered a no-contest plea to one count of prostitution non-marital sexual intercourse related to the incident at the Wilderness Hotel and Golf Resort in Lake Delton. He had denied assaulting the women. Underwood was fined $379.

On Monday, Lake Delton police released the records in the case following several months of investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department and the State Crime Lab.

According to the police report, the two women told police June 5 that a Packers player, who was later identified as Underwood, had raped them.

Six Packers along with Underwood became involved in the incident, according to the report. All of the Packers were cleared in the incident except for Underwood.

The Packers players were at a condo at the Lake Delton resort where the two women told police the assaults occurred.

On June 5 – the morning of the alleged sexual assault by Underwood – Lake Delton police records state that six Milwaukee police officers were staying at the resort when they met up with the Packers. One of the officers named in the report, Michael A. Vagnini, said he and the other officers started talking with the Packers and were invited to play cards with them.

According to a Sauk County Sheriff’s Department report released with the Lake Delton records, the Milwaukee police officers were unaware of any type of allegations against any of the players.

After Sauk County Sheriff’s detectives explained to them that there were sexual allegations against one of the players, the Milwaukee police officers said they didn’t see or hear anything suspicious.

The Milwaukee police officers also said that the two women “appeared to be in no way distressed or showed any kind of concern as far as their safety or well being,” according to the police report.

LAKE DELTON — Green Bay Packers defensive back Brandon Underwood has entered a no-contest plea to one count of prostitution — nonmarital sexual intercourse.

Underwood, 24, of De Pere, was found guilty and fined $379 by a Sauk County judge, Lake Delton Police Chief Thomas Dorner announced Wednesday in a news release.

The conviction will be expunged from Underwood’s record in 12 months if he pays the fine, according to Wisconsin court records posted online.

Underwood appeared in Sauk County Court in connection with the June 10 incident at the Wilderness Golf Cabins in this small Wisconsin Dells community. Two women alleged they had been sexually assaulted by a Packers player.
